Delegates from US-China Center for Animal Health of Kansas State University Visited IAR/CAAS

Delegates from US-China Center for Animal Health of Kansas State University visited the Institute of Apicultural Research, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IAR/CAAS) On Oct 26th, 2015. Prof. Wang Jiaqi, Director General of IAR/CAAS, met with the visiting delegation headed by Prof. Shi Jishu, Director the US-China Center for Animal Health of the Kansas State University. The two sides exchanged ideas to further strengthen the collaboration and discussed issues on joint project application.

Prof. Wang Jiaqi showed thanks to Prof. Shi Jishu for the assistance and expertise advice on apiculture biology and bee products functional components identification. He pointed out that the institute is currently at the development turning point; the research achievements Prof. Shi Jishu has made in animal immunology and veterinary medicine are highly valued. Wang also noted that during the China‘s 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period, the institute looks forward to establishing strategic collaboration with international-known laboratories and organizations.

Shi spoke highly of the institute for the leadership in the bee industry and the research achievements has been made. He said that Animal Health Center of Kansas State University is willing to deepen the collaboration relationship with IAR/CAAS and he invited the institute to join in his team to apply for the international foundation project “One Health”.

At the meeting, Sun Liping, research scientist from the bee product department of IAR/CAAS, updated the research progress on propolis components identification and functional development. The two sides agreed to be working together in separation extraction and identification of propolis functional factors.

The institute and Kansas State University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding Science and Technology Cooperation between IAR/CAAS and Kansas State University. The meeting has set up a bridge for the further win-win cooperation in science and technology development, talents introduction between IAR/CAAS and Kansas State University.
