On August 14, Peng Wenjun, Director General of Institute of Apicultural Research (IAR), CAAS, and representatives of China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) conducted an apicultural survey in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County in Hunan Province.

At the symposium, the three parties focused on the apicultural development in Chengbu County and made an in-depth discussion on how to concentrate the advantages of the three parties to build the whole industry chain of apiculture. The discussion focused on cooperation in healthy Apis cerana breeding technology, bee variety breeding, characteristic honey bee characterization, brand building and promotion, talent exchange and technical training.

With the support of the United Nations Development Programme, the apicultural improvement work in Chengbu County in 2022 will focus on promotion of healthy Apis cerana breeding technology, product quality improvement and product brand building. The meeting reached agreement in the following aspects, namely concentrating the advantages and resources of the three parties, making joint efforts in apicultural revitalization and improving the overall level of the Apis cerana breeding industry in Chengbu. As a scientist from a scientific research and technical support unit, Peng Wenjun said that the IAR will give full support for technical demands of Chengbu County in the development of the Apis cerana breeding industry, and fully mobilize its core resources of science and technology and talents to provide effective support for the high-quality apicultural development in Chengbu County.
